New Dog/Puppy? Start Here...

Updated: Jan 3, 2019

If you have a new puppy or dog in your life it can be tough to know where to start. Check out the Foundation Training Series to learn about the key behaviors that I recommend teaching first. These behaviors are meant to be useful, but also to help you and your dog gain confidence in the training and learning process.

Your dog will learn how to problem solve, understand cues, and build positive associations with the training process. You can build upon these foundations to teach more difficult behaviors like coming when called, loose leash walking, and ignoring distractions.

Just like building a house, a strong foundation is the key to creating a solid, reliable training structure that will last for the life of your dog.

These simple and useful training concepts will help you create a new, healthy training relationship with your dog:

  1. Hand Targeting

  2. Respond to a Cue

  3. ‎'Watch Me'

  4. ‎'Go to Mat'

  5. Offer Behavior
